Presentation and Final Touches

We had our final presentation with the visitor from ROAR Studio this morning. By then, we've actually completed our entire project, with the book ready to be printed and our animations working well with Junaio.

The comments that the visitor gave us were;
- Reduce the file size of your animations, so that it would load faster on the devices
- Upload the series onto a portal such as Deviatart or Facebook page, so that trios can be packaged as merchandises.
- Book should be printed on a matte surface, so that the QR codes can be scanned properly, as compared to glossy material that would reflect light.

Before this, I realized that if our animations were to be just sound effects and animations, it can be quite difficult for viewers to understand what the animation is actually about. I suggested to the group to add a description on the lower thirds, just like how we did with our book so that the whole video could be clearer to the viewers. We managed to include that, along with the sound effects and background music before we presented to the visitor.

We were actually ready to print our book yesterday, but when Voon Ann went to the print station, they said that we forgot to create outlines for our texts, and their computers did not have the fonts that we used. And they also mentioned that our texts are too close to the borders, so there's a chance that it might be chopped off after printing. Hence, they suggested us to create a 5mm box within the A4 size of the book, and make sure that our texts is within that box. Since we only found out yesterday, we haven't managed to make changes yet.

Scene 4 - Completed!

Voon Ann and I are finally done with the illustrations for Scene 4. Next up would be uploading the animations done by Cam onto Metaio, and placing the QR code into the page.

Voon Ann suggested that we should add a page where it shows all the characters like Mr.Vending Machine and Uncle Turtle are having a picnic together with the trios. Since it is quite weird if the book ends that way, I agreed with her and I suggested to put it on the last page of the entire book.

As for the animations, Cam is done with all of the animations and we are currently looking for sound effects that would sync well with the animation. I looked up on Incomptech for suitable royalty free background musics for the Dog scenes but I have yet to find anything suitable.

Scene 3 - Completed!

We've just finished compiling Scene 3, after Voon Ann and I were done with the illustrating process. This scene is all about the trios crossing a river on their way to the picnic and encounters some plastic bags on the river bank.

I feel that the texture that we place on the illustrations really makes a difference,as it gives a illusion that it is not a flat vector images.

Besides that, Cam has also uploaded the animations for this scenes, which is still not available on Junaio yet, as we haven't upload them.

We are currently trying to finish up Scene 4 as soon as possible, so that we can see how else our work can be further improvised.

Scene 2 - Completed!

About two weeks after our first presentation with the industry visitors, we've been working continuously for our second scene. Following our previous division, Cam is in charge of the animations. Voon Ann and I will be working on the illustrations, and at the end of the day, the final compilation will be handed to me.

So far, we've just finished Scene 2.

The  QR codes are not available yet as we have not uploaded it on Metaio. But the animations are already available on Youtube, courtesy of Cam.

We are still looking for suitable royalty free songs for the Dog scenes, although I have a rough idea on how it'll sound like. Voon Ann suggested me to look on Incomptech as she has used that website in the past for her previous assignments.

Scene 1 - Completed!

We've actually completed Scene 1, few days before our presentation with the industry guys from ROAR Studio. They seemed to be quite pleased with the idea that we came up with.

The comments that they gave were;

  • Add more storyline and scenarios, instead of just having 4 scenes
  • Try to include more friends, instead of just keeping on the trios
  • Share it around through social media, such as Facebook

I'm quite proud with what our group has managed over the past two weeks, since we found out about the presentation. Right now, both the QR codes on the last page are actually workable with Junaio, with the pictures above the QR code working as respective markers.
